Rennie: we will make our mark on Scottish Budget

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP today said that his party would work constructively with the Scottish Government to seek agreement on the Budget after the Finance Secretary set out his spending plans at Holyrood.

Speaking at the Scottish Parliament this afternoon, Mr Rennie set out Liberal Democrat budget priorities, highlighting childcare, colleges, mental health and transport as key areas for investment.

Speaking after the Budget statement, Mr Rennie said:
“Liberal Democrats have made our mark on previous budgets and that is what we will do again.
“There is still a great deal to be done to ensure that this budget delivers for families, with new investment to ensure that childcare provision in Scotland matches what Liberal Democrats have secured in other parts of the country.
“We need to see action to restore college funding to 2011 levels, so more young people can get the best start in life, and on mental health so that these crucial services get the investment they need.
“We will work in good faith with the Finance Secretary to deliver on these key priorities. I hope he will approach negotiations in the same spirit.”
