Christine Jardine MP has co-sponsored a Bill to challenge the ways that women born in the 1950’s have been treated in terms of changes to their pension provision.
The Bill which was laid before Parliament on behalf of the All Party Parliamentary Group on state pension inequality will look to review that decision and look at costs for a compensation scheme.
Ms Jardine, who has had representations from many women in her Edinburgh West constituency on the issue said:
"The inequality and injustice faced by women pensioners born in the 1950s is simply unacceptable.
"So many women in Edinburgh West have told me heart breaking stories of the hardships they face because of the callous, incompetent way these pension changes were introduced that I am determined to force this government to listen.
"Our bill aims to review that decision and look at costs for a compensation scheme.
"I urge MPs from all parties to support us in this."
