Speaking ahead of Ian Blackford’s speech to the SNP conference in Aberdeen, Scottish Liberal Democrat general election chair Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“Ian Blackford should enjoy his last speech as SNP Westminster leader. With an election around the corner, the Liberal Democrats are setting out to ensure that he doesn’t make another.
“We’ve shown in neighbouring Caithness and in Shetland that we can take the fight to the SNP and win. Recent polling suggests Liberal Democrats are within striking distance once again.
“It would be a watershed moment if the nationalists were to lose their Westminster boss for the second election in a row. Our candidate Craig Harrow has been visiting every corner of the constituency. Lots of people have fond memories of Charles Kennedy and what he did for the area and they are tired of the divisive SNP.
“The SNP are only interested in putting chaos on chaos with another independence referendum, not putting the Highlands first. Liberal Democrats are best placed to make it all stop. It’s game on across Ross, Skye and Lochaber.”
