Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Jim Hume MSP has issued a warning to the Health Secretary to ensure pressured health boards are equipped to meet A&E waiting times over the winter months.
Weekly A&E waiting times published today showed a further decline in the number of patients being treated with the SNP Government’s four hour target.
Six health boards failed to meet the interim 95 percent target.
Mr Hume said:
“It’s concerning that performance against the Scottish Government’s A&E waiting times targets is worsening during the milder autumn months.
“Emergency admissions often rocket during the colder months. People and NHS staff need confidence that NHS boards, many of which are already under enormous strain, are equipped to meet the targets should admissions rapidly increase.
“SNP ministers need to show they are listening to NHS staff and set out a plan to support A&E units.”
