The Liberal Democrats have demanded that Boris Johnson answer questions in Parliament over claims he planned to deliberately breach the ministerial code.
Lord Geidt’s resignation letter accused the Prime Minister of having plans that would be “deliberately breaching his own code.”
Liberal Democrat Chief Whip Wendy Chamberlain said:
“It looks like Boris Johnson is planning to break his own rules yet again. The Prime Minister now needs to come to Parliament and answer questions about these extremely serious allegations.
“We urgently need more details about what exactly Boris Johnson is planning and why it would be a breach of the ministerial code. Does this involve any potential conflicts of interest such as links with Conservative donors or companies with connections to ministers.
“The public is sick of the constant lies and cover ups by Boris Johnson and the Conservatives. They deserve the full truth now.”
