Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today called for the Government to take forward a national falls strategy after the Government were defeated in today’s Patient Safety Debate.
Mr Cole-Hamilton’s successful amendment called on the Scottish government to end the NHS recruitment crisis and develop a national falls strategy.
Mr Cole-Hamilton said:
“At a recent meeting I chaired for the old person’s forum in the chamber of the Scottish Parliament, I was shocked to discover that fear of falls was their number one concern, even ahead of crime, loneliness and cost of living.
“This vote sends a clear signal to the Government that the time has come to develop a national fall strategy and ensure that older people have the support and security they need.”
