Responding to the news that the Health Secretary knew in September that a child had died after contracting an infection possibly linked to Glasgow’s super hospital, but did not make it public, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP commented:
“Given the intense public concern about infections and the safety of hospital buildings, it is incomprehensible that the Health Secretary decided that the right approach was to keep this new information private.
“No parent should ever have to find out through the actions of a whistleblower why their child may have actually died. It is devastating.
“The Health Secretary must immediately agree to come to Parliament and provide a statement. There are very serious questions that need answered.”
