Willie was born on the Lanarkshire/Ayrshire border, son of a tenant farmer. He has lived for most of his life in Milnathort but has lived and worked in Edinburgh and the Midlands of England.
He is married to Christine and they have four grown up children.
Interests: Willie is a keen cyclist. He also enjoys playing golf in the summer and curling in the winter. His other interests include gardening reading and natural history.
Occupation: He and his wife have recently retired from an agricultural retail business they owned and ran based in Milnathort. He currently serves on Perth & Kinross Council as a councillor for the Kinross-shire ward. He was first elected in 1995.
Willie chairs the TRACKS committee (The Rural Access Committee of Kinross-shire) which has built paths and cycle ways thoughout Kinross-shire. TRACKS created the award winning Loch Leven Heritage Trail, a £3.8 million multi-use track which was completed in Spring of 2014 and encircles Loch Leven. The trail currently attracts nearly 240,000 visitors per year.
