Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP has today branded Donald Trump's visit "the most expensive round of golf in history" as stand-in Police Scotland Chief Constable Iain Livingstone suggested that the visit could require 5,000 officers and cost Police Scotland £5m.
Iain Livingstone warned today that force has no idea how they'll afford it, despite the visit being only two weeks away. Police Scotland overspent their budget by £35m last year.
Liam McArthur said:
"This is the most expensive round of golf in history. The people of Scotland don’t want him here and they don’t want to pick up the tab.
"The Conservative Government shouldn’t be rolling out the red carpet for someone with such appalling views on human rights."
