Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP has said that the SNP have been found out in their attempts to disguise the volatile nature of oil revenues.
Figures published by mistake today by the Scottish Government showed that Scotland received only £4 billion in oil revenues in 2013/14. The figures represent a drop of £1.5 billion in revenue from the previous year.
Commenting on the figures, Mr Rennie said:
"These new figures confirm that oil revenues are volatile, uncertain and falling. What makes matters worse is that an independent Scotland would be over dependent on this resource posing a real threat to our public services like the NHS. The nationalist government has been desperate to inflate the value of oil in the run up to the referendum in a desperate bid to inflate their chances of victory but have now been found out."
