Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has accused the SNP of distorting their mandate following reports of Nicola Sturgeon’s meeting with the Prime Minister today.
Mr Rennie said:
“The SNP are already distorting their mandate.
“During the election they said their priorities were austerity and trident but since the election it's all been about the constitution.
“Only a week after the result the SNP have returned to business as usual, stoking up divisions in their drive for an unstable constitutional settlement.
“Nicola Sturgeon has taken her eye off the ball on the business of government. In just the last week unemployment is up, mental health services are failing, A&E waiting times are being missed for months on end and armed police are on the streets of Stirling.
"Instead of playing power games with London the First Minister needs to get on with the day job. It is the clearest path to creating opportunity for all.”
