Scott: too many children still excluded from attainment gap funding

Commenting on the announcement of details of attainment gap funding in Scotland’s schools, Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesman Tavish Scott MSP said:

“Two thirds of secondary schools across Scotland are being excluded from the SNP’s flagship funding scheme. Children living in 12 council areas who need help are missing out as a result of this postcode lottery. This isn’t good enough.

“Lib Dem plans to put a penny on income tax for education would raise £500m for schools, colleges and nurseries. This funding would ensure every child in Scotland who needs extra help gets the support they deserve no matter where they live. Our plans go well beyond the timid steps that the SNP have proposed.”
