Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Education and Skills Committee, Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesperson Tavish Scott MSP has called for a straight explanation from the Scottish Qualification Authority about its management of Geography exams, after teachers raised concerns.
A submission to MSPs from the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers revealed that 54% of respondents thought the latest SQA Higher Geography paper was the "worst ever".
Mr Scott said:
“The SQA have big questions to answer about the geography exams Scotland’s pupils are being asked to take.
“Geography teachers are saying hard things about the inconsistencies and spin around discussions will not do.
“This is about the future of our children. So what Holyrood’s Education committee will expect tomorrow is a straight explanation of the SQAs mismanagement of geography exams.”
