Commenting in response to the publication of the report from the independent review into student support, Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesperson Tavish Scott MSP said:
"This report is a cry out for repairing the damage that the SNP have inflicted over the last decade.
“Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are worse off in Scotland than England. The SNP slyly slashed bursaries for those needing help the most. They promised to end all student debt but have instead overseen its ballooning.
“Scottish Liberal Democrats would immediately cut monthly repayments for graduates by raising the loans threshold while our policy of investing £500 million in education would repair the damage the SNP has done to bursaries and grants for students in higher and further education.”
