Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokesperson, Cllr Carolyn Caddick has today said that investing in education and skills is the key to reducing unemployment as new figures were released today show that Scottish unemployment has fallen this month but overall employment remains lower than the rest of the UK.
Commenting Ms Caddick said:
“This is the first bit of good news we have seen in Scotland for a long time. Recently we have seen some of the worst quarterly figures as Scotland has struggled to keep pace with the rest of the UK on both unemployment and employment.
“To make sure today’s news is not a blip, the Scottish Government needs to invest in education and skills. That is what Scottish Liberal Democrats will champion.”
