Rumbles warns over AWPR funding challenges

Responding to reports that building firm Galliford Try will try to raise another £150m after Carillion’s collapse, a development that could affect the completion of the AWPR, North East MSP Mike Rumbles said:

“Keith Brown has continued to insist that the collapse of Carillion will not affect works on the AWPR, yet these latest developments show that firms are on edge.

“Further delays to the AWPR would impact on thousands of commuters and local people eagerly waiting on the road’s opening.

“The Economy Secretary needs to make clear whether these latest funding issues mean the already overdue AWPR project has picked up another flat tire.”
