Scottish Liberal Democrat rural affairs spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP today urged the Scottish Government to give farmers in Scotland the stability they need.
Mr Rumbles was speaking as the NFUS wrote to the Cabinet Secretary for Finance Derek Mackay MSP calling on him to guarantee that money received as a result of agriculture spending in other parts of the UK will go to farmers in Scotland.
Commenting, Mr Rumbles said:
“Any funding that is earmarked for farmers must be passed on in full, no ifs no buts.
"Our farmers have already been through months of uncertainty as a result of the SNP's CAP payment shambles. Now more than ever they need stability. Ministers must send a clear signal that farmers can invest in their businesses in the knowledge that the Scottish Government will not pull the plug on farm funding."
