Responding to the news that staff shortages have caused thousands of train cancellations since April 2018, rising to an average of 46 a day at the turn of the year, Scottish Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP said:
“It’s embarrassing that passengers across the country have faced delays and cancellations because train bosses couldn’t get to grips with staffing. Commuters just want trains to be reliable and value for money but they’ve been getting neither.
“ScotRail’s constant promises of improvement now look completely implausible.
“The Transport Secretary must ensure the catalogue of errors that are holding up Scottish passengers get sorted or cut the contract short and arrange for a new operator.”
