Responding to the Scottish Government’s announcement that loans will be made available to farmers from October, Scottish Liberal Democrat rural affairs spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP said:
“I’m happy to see money getting into the hands of farmers more quickly, but let’s not blame all of this on the weather.
"Anyone who has watched the Scottish Government’s CAP saga play out will know the faulty £178m computer system and mismanaged dispersal of payments are the real reasons Scotland’s rural communities have been deprived of the funds they need.
“Farmers and crofters have put up with years of financial uncertainty. Getting them the money they’re entitled to promptly and without fail should be a given.”
