North East Fife MSP Willie Rennie has welcomed the announcement by the Scottish Government confirming the £200 million investment for the Tay Cities Region Deal. The programme includes investment in Dundee, Perth, Angus and the north of Fife. It aims to create thousands of jobs over the next 10-15 years by focusing on skills, tourism, transport and innovation.
Mr Rennie said:
“This is long awaited but welcome news from the Scottish Government. The funding will make a big difference to the people I represent and the whole region around the Tay. For us locally, one exciting example is the commitment by St Andrews University to invest in the Eden Campus, which will create new jobs.
“The onus is now on the UK Government to confirm they will match the £200 million of funding, just as they have done for similar city deals in the past. If that gets the green light at the budget, we can see double the impact for our local industries in the years to come.”
