Speaking in response to a letter sent from the Finance Secretary to the UK Government over the public sector pay cap, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:
"Liberal Democrats are prepared to put our political differences with the SNP to one side to stand together for a pay rise for public sector workers. With one voice we may have a better chance of persuading the Conservative government to act.
"Nurses, soldiers, teachers and police officers have had their pay crushed by a pay cap that has gone on for far too long. With divisions in the Conservative Government over the policy their is a real chance to deliver change so that public sector workers can have a pay rise.
"If we all stand together we can deliver that change."
