Responding to Nicola Sturgeon's announcement of a new expert group to protect and safeguard devolution as well as her call for new powers on social security, immigration and trade, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP said:
"Scottish Liberal Democrats campaigned for devolution for decades and we are incredibly proud of the Scottish Parliament and the big difference that it has made to people's lives.
"Nicola Sturgeon needs to remember that this is not a Scottish-English battle, it is about the economic and social wellbeing of the whole of our country. We will talk to the SNP Government about how to handle Brexit in this parliament but we are not interested in driving a wedge between Scotland and England.
"It is essential that Nicola Sturgeon's government use their radical powers over health, education and social security to deliver for the people of Scotland and support our call to give the British people an exit from Brexit with a referendum on whatever deal Theresa May brings back from Brussels."
