Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has today branded the Prime Minister’s UK tour to sell her withdrawal agreement a “slow march to defeat” and called for the public to be given the final say on the Brexit settlement as Theresa May visited Bridge of Weir today.
Mr Rennie said:
“This morning the Chancellor candidly admitted that Brexit will make the country poorer. No wonder there is no majority for the Prime Minister’s deal.
“The Government’s own analysis shows real wages falling, every region in the UK worse off and no Brexit dividend. Theresa May is on a slow march to defeat, trailing round the country trying to drum up support when everyone can see that this is not what the UK voted for.
“The case is stronger than ever for giving the public the final say on the Brexit deal, with the option to remain in the EU.”
