While on the campaign trail in the Highlands today, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has said that only the Liberal Democrats can save the Highlands from the SNP.
In the first full week of campaigning Mr Rennie will spend the next few days in Caithness and Ross, Skye and Lochaber alongside candidates.
Commenting Mr Rennie said
"Liberal Democrats are only a few thousand votes short of winning back the Highlands so if people want change they should back the Liberal Democrats. The Highlands is a straight choice between the Liberal Democrats and the SNP. No other result is possible.
"Over the last two years the people in the Highlands have been left with MPs that have not had their best interests at heart. This election is a chance to change that and get a real local champion as a MP.
"We've all seen the impact of SNP rule in the Highlands as the SNP have short-changed and stripped powers from the area. While any SNP candidate will be obsessed by independence, Liberal Democrats will put the local area first. Now is our chance to save the Highlands from the SNP."
