Willie Rennie has criticised the First Minister for continuing confusion on whether the SNP have dropped their policy of 1000 extra police officers.
Following Questions to the First Minister Willie Rennie said:
"The First Minister has ditched the 1000 extra police officers policy that she boasted about for years but doesn't have the courage to tell anyone.
"She is hiding behind the Chief Constable when she should be upfront with the Scottish people.
"She dodged again today when given the clear opportunity to spell out what guidance she has given to the Chief Constable in advance of his policing plan next week.
"The First Minister is not being straight about the police. The new Chief Constable deserves clarity not confusion.
"Communities across Scotland deserve to hear directly what the First Minister's policy now is rather than being dragged around in circles with platitudes."
