Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has today called on employers to ensure that employees who were unable to get to work during the recent snow storms do not lose out, after reports suggested that a number of employers including health boards were threatening employees with a loss of wages.
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:
“It would be wrong of employers to threaten worker’s incomes when severe weather warnings were in place.
“In the past few days Scotland has displayed great spirit, with communities banding together to look after the most vulnerable. I have heard great reports from many employers who have been very supportive of employees who found it hard to get to work.
“It should not be spoilt by a few employers looking to squeeze out the pips.
“I hope the Scottish Government will be speaking with employer and employee representatives to ensure that this message is heard.”
