Scottish Liberal Democrats leader Willie Rennie MSP today welcomed comments from former Irish President John Bruton who suggested that voters be given the chance to have their say on the Brexit deal once the terms of departure become clear.
Mr Rennie said:
“We now have two former UK Prime Ministers and a former President of Ireland supporting our campaign to let the public have a say on the terms of Brexit.
“Momentum is with us. Nicola Sturgeon should throw her weight behind our campaign and recognise that the best chance of keeping Scotland in the EU is to keep the UK in the EU.
“Liberal Democrats won’t accept a blank cheque Brexit. We won’t let what started as a democratic decision end with a stitch up and a deal being imposed on the British people that nobody voted for.
"The British people deserve a vote in a referendum on the Brexit deal."
