Highlights of the conference were keynote speeches from Tavish Scott MSP and Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable MP.

Vince Cable used his speech to highlight how Liberal Democrats had been working to get the country through this recession: “When reckless bankers dragged down the 300 year old financial institution that was HBoS, it was Tavish Scott who led the opposition to a takeover which has been bad for Scottish jobs and bad for competition.”

More extracts from Vince's speech can be read here.

Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Tavish Scott, closed the conference with an address that encouraged the SNP to forget the independence panto politics and to “put the needs of Scotland before the interests of the SNP.” The full text of his speech can be read here.
