About
Apart from his time working in the House of Commons, Kevin has lived and worked in Edinburgh all of his life. He was born at the local Western General Hospital and has strong family roots in Edinburgh North and Leith. His grandfather worked on the Leith Docks and his family's business ran on Easter Road for over 100 years. Kevin now lives in the Granton Waterfront with his wife Jennifer.
Kevin worked for popular Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West John Barrett for over 4 years, including 2 years at Westminster. He has real hands on experience of Parliament and understands how to use the Westminster system to get results. He is not afraid to stand up and speak out for Edinburgh North and Leith.
Kevin's local priorities are:
-More police to help tackle crime, using the moeny Labour would use for expensive and ineffective ID cards for the deployment of more front line police officers.
-Turning Scotland into a renewables powerhouse with 100% of the country's electricity produced from green renewable energy by 2050 without resorting to nuclear power.
-Better public transport for the north of the city by campaigning hard for the Edinburgh tram line to be extended to Newhaven, Trinity and Granton.
-A better deal for Edinburgh North and Leith's pensioners with an improved state pension and an end to Labour's degrading means testing.
-More affordable and family housing, with help from the Government for those trying to get onto the property ladder.
Kevin is committed to getting results for people in Edinburgh North and Leith by working with the local team of Liberal Democrat councillors, including his sister Louise who is the popular Lib Dem councillor for Leith Walk. The Liberal Democrats are the only party that is seriously challenging Labour in Edinburgh North and Leith and ready to stop Labour taking our area for granted.
