Over the years, John has been heavily involved in a number of community groups, charities and social enterprises in Aberdeen South. He set up and served as chairperson of Friends of Doonies. This is a social enterprise created to take on the running of a community farm in Aberdeen. John wants government to put more effort into promoting community projects for local people.

John understands the issues and problems facing people in the North East. This is why he wants more devolved power to local level. No-one knows better how to solve local problems than the people living there.

Whether it is NHS dentists or council funding, Aberdeen continually gets a bad deal. John is a leading voice in the Fair Deal for Aberdeen campaign. He will fight to see Aberdeen getting the share of national resources it deserves.
