Biography:

Ian Robertson has been a member of the Liberal Democrats since his time at University, where he regularly engaged in extra – curricular activities. Ian was a championship debater for several years and an active student politician. In 2003 he was elected as the President of his Student’s Association where he campaigned to prevent the introduction of tuition fees in England & Wales.

He has worked closely with his local party in Rutherglen since 2004, working to elect local councillors and also standing himself as the Westminster candidate in 2005, achieving a 6% swing to the party. Ian was also the candidate in the Glasgow East By-Election held in 2008. It was agreed by many commentators that Ian was by far the most impressive candidate during the three week campaign.

Ian is a teacher of Mathematics at a Glasgow Secondary school and thoroughly enjoys his work with young people in a city he cares a great deal for. He has until recently been a board member of the Glasgow Council On Alcohol.
