Biography
Before entering political life, Mike Pringle worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland and owned his own company.
Mike joined the SDP in 1982 and was elected to Edinburgh City Council for the Morningside ward in 1992. In 2003 he defeated ex Minister for Finance & Local Government, Angus MacKay in Edinburgh South by just 158 votes. In 2007 he extended this lead to 1929.
He was a member of the Scottish Party Executive from 1995 to 2003 and has held various spokesperson roles within the Parliamentary Party including Equal Opportunities spokesperson and Deputy Justice spokesperson. During the last term of the Scottish Parliament he sat on the Justice 2 Committee, the Subordinate Legislation Committee and the Justice 1 Committee from 2005 onwards.
Mike is married with two sons and enjoys going to the cinema, wine collecting and sport, especially rugby and football.
