Biography

A Fifer born and bred, Jim Tolson has lived in Dunfermline all his adult life. He recently celebrated his 12th wedding anniversary with his wife, Alison. He is originally from Ballingry, where his father was a coal miner.

Jim worked at Rosyth Dockyard for 19 years. He has been a dedicated Dunfermline councillor for 15 years but is now committed fully to representing the people of Dunfermline and the West Fife villages in the Scottish Parliament as their constituency MSP. He was awarded an HND in computing at Lauder College and an honours degree in computer networking at Napier University. Jim has a keen interest in motoring. He and his wife are also keen gardeners. As a charity fundraiser, Jim has run the Dunfermline Half Marathon and abseiled down the Wallace Monument.
