About

Biography:

Inspired by the Liberal Democrat stance on Iraq, Beverley joined the Party in 2002. Following university, Beverley returned to Edinburgh to work in Liberal Democrat target seat Edinburgh South before taking up a full-time position working for John Barrett MP in Edinburgh West.

In particular, Beverley cares about the promotion of social fairness and civil liberties. As a result of her studies, she also takes a strong interest in European and International affairs.

Beverley has a keen interest in sport. In her teens she trained regularly as a member of Corstorphine Amateur Athletic Club, using the city’s track facilities in Saughton and Meadowbank. She enjoys trying new adventure sports, having recently taken up climbing and snow-boarding. She also follows rugby, actively supporting both Edinburgh and Scotland rugby teams at Murrayfield.

As a teenager, Beverley successfully attained her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Following this, she felt impassioned by the merits of the Award, first volunteering as a group leader in her local community, and later employed by the City of Edinburgh Council to deliver the Award programme to young people at risk of exclusion from high school.

She studied for a degree (MA(hons)) in German at St Andrews University. During this time Beverley part-funded her studies working as a care assistant for NHS Lothian, caring for patients in hospitals across Edinburgh. In 2006, Beverley moved to Cardiff for a year to study for a postgraduate degree in European Studies.

Beverley spent her childhood going to Cramond Kirk and is still a regular church-goer, attending Charlotte Chapel Baptist Church.
