Ashay Ghai

About
Councillor Ashay Ghai was born and raised in his home town of Bearsden where he attended his local primary and secondary school. He is a graduate of Edinburgh University gaining a BSc (Social Science) in Politics and Social Policy. In his professional career, Ashay is a charity worker for third sector organisations promoting equality, human rights and civil liberties. He was elected to East Dunbartonshire Council for Bearsden South ward in a by-election, taking the seat off the Conservatives. In the 2007 Scottish Parliament election Ashay was the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Clydebank & Milngavie constituency.
Ashay joined the Liberal Democrats to help built a fair, free and just society where no one is left out. He is a strong advocate for equality, tackling poverty and protecting the most vulnerable in our communities. He knows the Liberal Democrats are best placed to address these issues and that Labour has turned its back on them. Ashay believes in a truly ethical foreign policy based on aid where it is most needed and not big business interests. He has always and will always be against illegal wars and wasting billions of pounds on needlessly replacing the Trident nuclear missile system.
Ashay is joining the hard working team of local Liberal Democrat councillors in Paisley and Renfrewshire standing up on the issues that matter to people.
