Scottish Government must set out its plans to accelerate spending on capital projects

Commenting as the Scottish Government publishes its update to its Willie RennieWillie RennieInfrastructure Investment Plan, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP said:

“There is no explanation of the ways that the Scottish Government is accelerating its spending on capital even though it got £394million extra from the UK Government last autumn.

“In fact, the Scottish Government has been silent on how it proposes to use the half that is available for 2014-15. Potential developers who need to know this basic information will be frustrated. It won’t help them plan.

“If the Scottish Government got its act together it could work faster on projects such as speedier rail links to Inverness and Aberdeen and dualling of the A9.”
