Mike Rumbles says it is incredible that the Justice Secretary has no idea how many suspects have been detained under new powers of detention which he hurriedly rushed through the Scottish Parliament after the Cadder ruling.

Commenting after questioning the Justice Secretary, Mike Rumbles said:

“When I asked him, the Justice Secretary had no idea how many suspects have been detained under these powers.

“It is incredible that he was so clueless.

“The Minister forced these powers through Parliament last year without proper scrutiny.

“If he really believed it was that important to detain suspects for longer you would think he would be bothered to find out if these new powers are working.”
