In asking questions to Danny Alexander MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, in his appearance in front of the Scottish Parliament’s Finance Committee, Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale MSP Jeremy Purvis pressed him on the continuing need for investment to deliver faster and more reliable broadband speeds.
Commenting, Jeremy Purvis said:
“The UK Coalition Government announced funding for Scotland for broadband services and after a request from delivery body BDUK to the Scottish Government ranked the Highlands over the South of Scotland bid for pilot investment.
“I am continuing to press the case for the South of Scotland broadband proposals that would bring high speed connections to our area. I pressed the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on the need for continuing support and I am asking the same of the Scottish Government as well.
“I believe that both must work together to ensure that the Borders is not left out when decisions are made to invest in this vital infrastructure.”
