Commenting on the publication of the independent review into the impact of the Homecoming year which said the impact of Homecoming 2009 has been substantially over-estimated, Liberal Democrat Culture spokesperson Iain Smith MSP said:

“This latest report is a damning insight into the SNP Government’s handling of Homecoming 2009.

“This was a good idea but handled appallingly by the SNP. Scotland has paid a high price for this SNP botch-job.

“The SNP now have some uncomfortable questions to answer about how they calculated the success of homecoming, which has been today been revealed as widely exaggerated.”
