Commenting after receiving the First Minister’s letter inviting party leaders to a joint meeting about a joint submission to the Strategic Defence Review, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott said:
“The Ministry of Defence must take into account the social and economic impact that military spending decisions have on local communities.
“Aircraft carriers being built on the Clyde and in Fife mean hundreds of jobs and vital skills for local areas.
“I look forward to receiving the draft submission from the Scottish Government. Liberal Democrats will continue to make the case for these investments at the joint meeting.â€
