Imperative that Scottish government show leadership: Purvis

Commenting on the news that 1,400 jobs may go at North Lanarkshire Council, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:

“It is likely that the next six months will be a very concerning time for council and public sector workers across Scotland, and especially now in Lanarkshire.

“It is imperative in this context that there is leadership from the Scottish Government.

“They say that councils are receiving record funding but the frank truth is that there isn’t sufficient long term planning by Alex Salmond’s Government.
