Commenting on Diageo’s submission to the UK Government’s review of alcohol taxation, Scottish Liberal Democrat Chief Whip Mike Rumbles said:

“Liberal Democrats disagree with Diageo that tax should only be used for revenue raising.

“Tax should and is already used to discourage social ills, for example smoking.

“The Treasury should take the health impacts of alcohol seriously while reviewing the tax system.”
