Commenting on the statistics released today showing that 70% of the Scottish population is registered with a dentist, Liberal Democrat Public Health spokesperson Jamie Stone MSP said:

“Almost a third of the population still aren’t registered with an NHS dentist.

“Liberal Democrats introduced free dental checks and they’re a key tool in the battle against tooth decay.

“But if people aren’t registered with an NHS dentist, then they can’t access free dental checks.

“Regular check ups not only prevent tooth decay, but can give early warnings of more sinister diseases before they become too advanced.

“The Scottish Government needs to look into why so many Scots still aren’t registered with an NHS dentist.”
