Commenting on reports that police may be understaffed for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson and MSP for Glasgow Robert Brown said:

“This is a stark warning from a senior police officer.

“The 2014 Games are an opportunity to showcase Glasgow to the world, but this should not come at the expense of public safety in Glasgow and the rest of the country.

“The Scottish Government needs to respond to this warning and make sure that easing the extra strain on our police forces through this exciting time for the city is factored into the planning for the 2014 Games.”
