Commenting on the investigation launched today into claims that the offspring of a cloned cow entered the food chain, Liberal Democrat Rural Affairs spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP

“This case has raised concern amongst the public, while exposing shortcomings in the way in which current rules are enforced.

“If consumer confidence is to be safeguarded, not only must there be clear guidelines in place but these must be rigorously enforced.

"In the meantime, it is vital that the confusion surrounding this particular case is resolved as a matter of urgency".
