Commenting on the findings of ‘Counting the Costs’ which has found that many Scottish families with disabled children are struggling to afford food and heating, Liberal Democrat Hugh O’Donnell MSP said:

“This damming report is an insight into the dire financial straits that families with disabled children find themselves living with in Scotland.

“Families with disabled children are put in a very difficult position of balancing caring for their loved ones and holding down a job to pay the bills which are often higher because of extra living costs.

“The Scottish Government must tackle the postcode lottery that exists in terms of care and provision for families with disabled children in Scotland.
