EDUCATION SECRETARY MUST RESPOND TO GTC SCOTLAND CRITICISM: O’DONNELL

Commenting on GTC's response to the Donaldson review, which highlights the real problems that probationers face when trying to find employment and how Continuous professional Development (CPD) is markedly inconsistent across local authorities, Liberal Democrat education spokesperson Hugh O’Donnell MSP said:

“GTC Scotland’s response to the Donaldson review lays bare the inadequacies of the Government’s education policy and confirms our concerns.

“I have been pressing the Cabinet Secretary for over two years on the quality and variability of CPD across local authorities in Scotland.

“Donaldson’s review confirms my fears that teachers and pupils are not well served by the education system.

“The Education Secretary must realise that we cannot gamble with our children’s future."
