South of Scotland MSP backs campaign to save Leuchie House

Jim Hume MSP, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, has today backed calls from activists to save North Berwick’s Leuchie House Care Centre.

The MSP has spoken out in favour of retaining the facility because of the benefits for MS sufferers and their families, and has written to both the MS Society and the Health Minister in a bid to safeguard its future.

Jim Hume said:

“Leuchie House is an invaluable facility for MS sufferers and their families. It’s a godsend not just for the local area, but for the whole of Scotland and it will be a big loss if the MS Society does go ahead with the closure at the end of the year.

“I sincerely hope that the MS Society either reverses its decision or makes strenuous and real efforts to find another organisation able to take over the management of the centre.”
