Smith: Education secretary must do all he can to avoid possible strike action

Commenting on the news from EIS, that members today backed a motion to consider industrial action over curriculum reforms, Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Margaret Smith MSP said:

“It remains the case that extra support announced by the Government recently has been left too late to allay the fears of Scotland’s teachers, particularly in the Secondary Sector.

“The Cabinet Secretary for Education must sit down with teachers, leaders and Local Authorities as a matter of urgency to do all he can to avoid possible strike action.
