“After making contact with the emergency planning team at Scottish Borders Council and having travelled up the Tweed Valley, there are remaining concerns for the Tweed into the weekend.Jeremy Purvis MSP: Tweeddale, Ettrick and LauderdaleJeremy Purvis MSP: Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale

“I have seen for myself the broken banks of the Tweed in the Tweed Valley and the impact flooding has already had on the farmland and some properties in the area. I have been in contact with Scottish Borders Council and commend the ongoing close attention that is being given.

“At the moment it is encouraging that the river levels are falling given the lack of rain today and I have been assured that the emergency planning team stands ready to meet continuously if river levels begin to rise again. I will be following up on some specific areas that have been affected so far and have had discussions with local councillor Catriona Bhatia, who has also had contact with residents in her ward.

“We will be monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to offer any assistance that is needed.”
